Smooth Jaw Design
The working end incorporates smooth, opposing jaw surfaces designed to compress compatible flexible tubing without the serrated gripping profile found on conventional hemostatic forceps.
The jaws are precision aligned to provide uniform contact when the instrument is closed. This configuration makes the clamp specifically suited to tubing-control applications rather than routine tissue grasping.
Ratchet-Controlled Closure
The integrated ratchet lock allows the operator to maintain the selected jaw position without continuous hand pressure.
Different ratchet engagement positions permit controlled adjustment of closure according to the tubing dimensions and procedural requirements. The minimum effective clamping pressure appropriate for the application should be used.
Clinical Application
Tubing clamp forceps are used when temporary mechanical control of compatible flexible tubing is required during a medical or surgical procedure.
Typical professional applications may include:
- Temporary occlusion of flexible medical tubing
- Controlled interruption of flow through compatible tubing
- Surgical tubing management
- Procedure-set preparation
- Operating-room instrument sets
- General medical and surgical applications requiring a locking tube clamp
The suitability of the instrument for a particular tubing material, diameter or procedure should be determined by the qualified healthcare professional.

Instrument Design & Handling
The 16.5cm length provides a practical balance between reach and hand control. Finger-ring handles allow precise opening and closure, while the straight working axis facilitates direct placement of the jaws over the tubing.
Unlike serrated artery forceps, the smooth jaw surfaces are specifically suited to applications where a non-serrated clamping interface is preferred.
Inspection & Reprocessing
Inspect the instrument before each use. Particular attention should be given to:
- Jaw alignment and working surfaces
- Joint movement
- Ratchet engagement and release
- Shanks and finger rings
The jaws should meet evenly, and the ratchet should engage and release smoothly.
Clean, disinfect, sterilize and maintain the instrument according to the applicable manufacturer's instructions and validated healthcare-facility reprocessing protocols.
Do not use the instrument if it is visibly damaged, misaligned, corroded or if the locking mechanism does not function correctly.
For professional use only.
